SnoValley Tilth members are invited to a walking tour of Canfield Farms in Snohomish on July 3 from 6-8 pm.

“Michelle Canfield works full time and (on the side) runs 100 Katahdin Hair Sheep ewes, raising 150 meat lambs and breeding stock each year on 37 acres in the Snohomish River Valley. We’ll talk about rotational grazing, pasture lambing, parasite resistance, genomics, and Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs- the science behind genetic advancement of livestock species) and the various markets there are for locker lamb, sheep, and breeding stock in Western WA. We’ll put some lamb meatballs on the BBQ in the evening after the tour, so bring a beverage or a side dish to share, and stay as long as you like to talk sheep!”

Address is 12320 Old Snohomish Monroe Rd. Sometimes GPS gets confused about the driveway location, so look for the white 2-story house with big red barn behind; and you’ll see the sheep close to the driveway. There is plenty of parking in front of the house and also in front/back of the barn. Just don’t block the main driveway to the back tenant.
