Farm to School Project
We are working with the Farm to School, Healthy Kids initiative and Riverview
School District to bring locally grown vegetables and fruit in to our schools.
Recent legislation has made this possible, and we are learning about the
necessary infrastructure, policies, budgetary considerations, nutritional
requirements etc which will enable this process.
On September 28th, 2011, Riverview School District offered a 'Taste of
Washington' school lunch, which included produce from our local farms at their
salad bar. Participating farms included Oxbow Farm and Full Circle Farm who
provided colorful and delicious organic produce, prepared by high school
students in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) program.
